SimpleumSafe 3.8: For the day an important document matters
============================================================

The new Security Center for iPhone, iPad, and Mac will bring key safeguards for
long-term document access into view—from data integrity and backup to software
version and recovery key.

Hamburg, Germany, August 12, 2026 – Encryption protects a document from unwanted
access. For a long-term archive, another question matters too: will the file
still be there, readable, and accessible to its owner when it is needed? With
SimpleumSafe 3.8, Simpleum Media GmbH will make this broader view of data
security visible in one central place. The release is planned for August 20,
2026, at 12:00 CEST.

People may not need an archived contract, tax record, certificate, or family
document for years—until suddenly they do. The new Security Center will
therefore bring four areas of long-term document care together for each safe:
data integrity, backup, software version, and recovery key. Calm status signals
will show where things are in good order and where a useful next action is
available.

The Integrity Checker will include every file in a safe in its checks and look
for typical logical and structural errors. Optionally, it will be able to read
and decrypt every stored encrypted data file in full and check whether files are
still missing from the synchronization set. Its result describes the state at
the time of the check; it is not a guarantee of future readability.

Maintaining access is another part of preparation. Users do forget their safe
passwords. If no recovery key was set up beforehand, Simpleum cannot help reopen
the safe because of its encryption. The Security Center will therefore make it
clear whether this second route back in has been prepared. On Mac, users can
print the recovery key using a dedicated template; secure storage in a password
manager is another option.

Backup behavior will differ by platform: on Mac, SimpleumSafe will be able to
include the status of its internal backups. Users will be able to record
external backups, schedule reminders, and confirm them manually across
platforms; the backups will not be detected automatically or tested for
recoverability. The Security Center will also indicate when a newer Store
version of the app is available. Selected reminder and escalation thresholds
will be adjustable; the Integrity Checker will use defaults of 7 and 30 days.

The Integrity Checker, internal Mac backup, and recovery key all existed before
version 3.8. What will be new is their shared status and follow-up logic, the
Store version check, and external backup management. Together, these elements
will turn separate tools into a clear document-care view for iPhone, iPad, and
Mac.

The Security Center is not a security guarantee. It will make important
safeguards visible, but it does not replace regular backups, secure storage of
the password and recovery key, or conscious maintenance of important documents.
