Show all file extensions
Filename extensions are normally hidden in macOS, so the shown filename is shorter.
But imagine you see a file devil.jpg maybe there is a well taken photo in, but the real name is devil.jpg.app and it is a virus.
How to fix it
macOS 10.11 – 14
- Choose Finder > Preferences, then click Advanced.
- Select or deselect “Show all filename extensions.”
