DVD and CD sharing should be disabled

Sharing your CD/DVD device can be useful, when you access a Mac with a DVD device from Macs without. But disabling this sharing can be easily forgotten, and others may can read your CD/DVD.

How to fix it

macOS 14

There is no option for “DVD or CD Sharing" available any more.

macOS 13

  1. Open “System Preferences”
  2. Go to “General” > “Sharing”
  3. Disable “DVD or CD Sharing"

macOS 10.11 – 12

  1. Go to “System Preferences” > “Sharing”
  2. Disable “DVD or CD Sharing”
