Hostname should not contain your name

Your user name and password are very important to get into your Mac. Knowing or good guessing of your user name is important for every attacker. Do not use your user name or full name as your computer name. It is easy to discover your computer name.

How to fix it

macOS 13 - 14

  1. Open “System Preferences”
  2. Go to “General” > “Sharing”
  3. Go to “Local hostname” click “Edit…”
  4. Choose a new Computer name (and network name)
