SimpleumSafe 3.8: For the day an important document matters
SimpleumSafe 3.8: For the day an important document matters
Encryption protects a document from unwanted access. For a long-term archive, another question matters too: will the file still be there, readable, and accessible to its owner when it is needed?
With SimpleumSafe 3.8, this broader view of data security becomes visible in one central place. The new Security Center for iPhone, iPad, and Mac shows the status of data integrity, backup, software version, and recovery key for each safe—and points to useful next actions.
Released on August 20, 2026
Preparation, not alarm
Important documents may sit untouched for years—until suddenly they matter. The Security Center therefore provides calm, understandable status signals and practical next steps rather than acting as a threat monitor.
- The Integrity Checker includes every file in a safe. Optionally, it can read and decrypt every stored encrypted data file in full and check synchronization status.
- On Mac, SimpleumSafe includes internal backup status. Users can record external backups, schedule reminders, and confirm them manually across platforms.
- A recovery key set up in advance helps users regain access if they forget their safe password.
- The Security Center indicates when a newer Store version of the app is available.
What is new in version 3.8
The Integrity Checker, internal Mac backup, and recovery key all existed before version 3.8. Their shared status and follow-up logic, the Store version check, and external backup management are new. Together, these elements turn separate tools into clear areas of preparation in one view.
The Security Center does not provide a security guarantee. It makes important safeguards for long-term document access visible, but it does not replace regular backups or secure storage of the password and recovery key.
Key points
- Security for a long-term archive involves more than confidentiality alone
- Data integrity, backup, software version, and recovery key status for each safe
- Clear status signals and useful next steps
- Internal backup only on Mac; external backups are maintained manually
- No automatic test of whether a backup can be restored
