How can I change my password?
You can change the password of an open Safe if you know its current password.
Important for synchronized Safes: The password change applies only to this local Safe copy. It is not synchronized to other devices. Change the password manually for every Safe copy if needed.
SimpleumSafe for Mac
- Open the Safe.
- Choose Safe > Change Password.
- Enter the current password, followed by the new password.
- Follow the remaining steps in the dialog.
SimpleumSafe for iPhone and iPad
- Open the Safe.
- Open Settings in the toolbar.
- Under Services, choose Change Password.
- Enter the current password, followed by the new password.
- Follow the remaining steps in the dialog.
What to consider afterwards
- Open every synchronized Safe copy on your other devices with the password still valid there, then change it there as well if all copies should use the same password.
- An existing backup or older Safe copy keeps the password state from the time it was created.
- An older synchronization configuration file remains protected by the password that was valid when it was exported. Create and securely store a new synchronization configuration file after changing the password.
- Store the new password securely. A configured recovery password provides an additional emergency path.
If you are unsure which password a particular Safe copy expects, follow the guide Safe password incorrect or forgotten.
