Error 12 means that SimpleumSafe could not mount secure temporary storage on your Mac. The app needs this storage for temporary working files. This message does not mean that your Safe password is wrong.
Check this first
- Quit SimpleumSafe and restart your Mac.
- Open SimpleumSafe again. Approve a Keychain access request if macOS shows one.
- Check whether the error appears again.
If the error returns
On some Macs, an older iCloud-synced Keychain item for the temporary image may still be present. This is one possible cause, but error 12 alone does not identify a particular item as the cause.
Open Keychain Access and search for the full image identifier D2E15CA8-8B51-4FF8-8A5C-A1AEDDFCCD21. Do not search only for worksparse. Check both the local and iCloud keychains. More than one item may appear.
Do not delete your Safe, Safe passwords, or Keychain items whose purpose is unclear. Removing an iCloud Keychain item also affects other Macs. First, note only how many results appear in each keychain. Simpleum Support can help identify items used only for temporary storage and determine whether removing them is safe in your situation.
Tell Support the error number 12, your macOS and SimpleumSafe versions, and the number of results in each keychain. Never send passwords, recovery keys, or private Safe content.
